Hi, my name is James Thomas. Productions KC was started as a Wedding DJ business in the greater Kansas City area. At the time I had been a guest wedding DJ for other area production companies but was ready to take on direct to client business. From 2016 to 2023 I was fortunate to be the wedding DJ for over 200 weddings. Then another 50 gigs worth of car shows, holiday parties, corporate events, fundraisers, proms and mid-size festival stages. 2023 marked the end of wedding bookings. My family was eager to have me around on weekends and I was ready to take a break after working a full time support job and working 30-40 weekends a year. In 2024 there was just one gig, a holiday party for a family friend who lost their booked DJ last minute. I didn’t just exit the event world 100%. I’ve been involved in many live streaming events. Running sound for corporate events. Renting DJ gear to younger up and coming young adults looking for gear as a way to book their own gigs. I didn’t liquidate any of my gear either. In fact the amount of lights, cables and audio/video devices in my life has grown.

For the last 3 years I have been running a full time Audio Video installation business. So while weddings were no longer part of the regular week. Audio and Video gear stayed primary focus. Teaming with my lifelong friend Justin Sehorn, we have added video recording, drone recording, a podcast studio, sound treatment products, sound reinforcement projects. With some of my added free time we even started making our own speakers. There were a few out of the box ideas like recording sound from a golf cart 100% on battery or recording sound for a music video in a grocery store.
